Kick start 2012 with a new view to food....

So how many of you ever feel bloated, lethargic or slightly ill after a pasta-filled dinner or that big sandwich? Well this could be because of the high levels of Wheat, Gluten and Dairy in these produces. Going back to our ancestural times, Wheat, Gluten and Dairy did not exist in the human diet. We as the modern society have created such foods to satisfy our needs. But we actually could be doing more harm than good eating man-made, processed foods such as: cakes, pasta, bread, pastry, chocolate, biscuits, cheese, milk and other yellow nibbles! Professor Rob Wolf, believes taking a more “Hunter-gather” view to diet could be a life-saving choice. Wolf has done much research regarding the affect adopting a more Paleolithic diet (Hunter-gatherer) has on people suffering from diseases. Here is a link to his website: http://www.robbwolf.com/ have a look, there are some very interesting and life-changing ideas here. Just open your mind and think back to those Caveman times! Enjoy!

Compounds!

I love the principles of crossfit because I am just a sucker for a beasting, athletes have been doing this training for years. My current coach Matt Elias former olympian and commonwealth medalist trained through his best years with Linford Christie. His idea of a beasting is compounds, a series of exercises (generally olympic lifts) on a minimal weight with an olympic bar. Lifting shoes on and away you go. Now we do this on a regular basis and believe you me it works! Now crossfit have come along comparatively recently and taken this to a whole new level, and to be completely honest i love it, but can it be brought to the general population effectively? Thats what I want to know, now general population for me is not 30 something adventure lovers, wanting to get strong and fit for some adventure/race and then fall in love. I talking joe public who watch x-factor on a saturday night, could i get them using the principles of crossfit in a workout? Well this is my challenge. Can I bring, ever so gently mind, crossfit principles into the exercise regimes of someone for example who has high blood pressure. Is that ethically correct, or will it change their life, bear in mind this is intense exercise. Crossfit say anyone is welcome but I ask can ‘anyone’ really do it. As someone who has never really done crossfit, I am an athlete, I know what they do and how they do it, I would love to hear from some x-fitters to really help me understand how and of course if I can implement it in my workouts.

Watch this space I will be updating you on how this goes, please get in touch and let me know your ideas on this question!

Thanks

Jono
